Michael Lachanski is a doctoral candidate in demography and sociology at the University of Pennsylvania's Population Studies Center and Department of Sociology and M.A. candidate in Statistics at the Wharton School. He is a computational social scientist who applies both modern causal inference and classical demographic methods to study the coevolution of educational and occupational systems. His substantive areas of interest are in organizational demography, labor markets, and education systems. His methodological interests are in reproducible and replicable research, "big data", formal demographic and statistical operationalization of sociological theories, and computational social science. He has published peer-reviewed research in RSF: The Russell Sage Foundation Journal of the Social Sciences, Demographic Research, Journal of Human Capital, Econ Journal Watch, and the International Review of Financial Analysis. He holds an MPA, A.B., and certificates from the Office of Population Research, Applied Math, Finance, and Machine Learning from Princeton University, where he was the first SINSI Fellow placed at the Census Bureau and Department of Transportation.
